Preparation of 4% Neutral Boric Acid Solution
Boric Acid (H2BO3 ) is week inorganic acid. Use in Pharmaceutical and laboratory. 4% Boric Acid (H2BO3 ) solution commonly use in analytical purposes.
To Prepare 4% Boric Acid (H2BO3 ) solution Use Distilled Water.
4% Boric Acid (H2BO3 ) solution means 40grams of Boric Acid (H2BO3 ) dissolved in water to produce 1000mL of Solution.
Required Apparatus and Chemical
- One-liter beaker
- Stirring rod
- Hot plate or heat source
- Measuring cylinder (for 750 mL water, 10 mL bromocresol green, and 7 mL methyl red)
- One-liter reagent stoppered boqttle
- Pipette or dropper (for precise liquid measurements)
- Balance or scale (for measuring 40 gm boric acid)
- Distilled water container
- Boric Acid (H2BO3 )
Preparation of 4% Neutral Boric Acid
- Take 750 mL of hot neutral distilled water in a one-liter beaker.
- Add 40 gm of boric acid to the hot water all crystals are dissolved.
- Add 10 mL of Bromocresol Green Solution.
- Add 7 mL of methyl red solution to the Boric acid.
- Transfer to a one-liter reagent stoppered bottle.
- After cooling, make up to 1000 mL and shake well.
- The solution should be used only after a minimum one-day gap from the date of preparation.
