Preparation of 0.1N Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) Solution

Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) is a Strong base. Use in Acid-Base titration and analysis.

To prepare 0.1N Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) Solution.

Molecular Weight Of NaOH:- 40g/mol

0.1Normality= 4g/L of NaOH

Prepare 0.1N NaOH (1 Liter)

  • Weigh 4gram of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) pellets.
  • Add About 300-400mL Distilled Water with Clean Beaker.
  • Stir until Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) dissolve completely.
  • Volume Make up to 1000mL mark.

Note Storage:- Store in Tightly pack plastic bottle.

Calculation Formula

N1V1 = N2V2

Titration 0.1N NaOH Normality

  1. PHP (Potassium Hydrogen Phthalate) Dry Oven in 45 minutes.
  2. Cool
  3. Weigh 0.200gram in 250mL Conical Flask.
  4. 20mL Distilled Water Mixing 5 minutes.
  5. Phenolphthalen Indicater 2-3 drops
  6. Titrate with NaOH 0.1N
  7. End Point appear Pink color

Record- Note the Volume Of NaOH use from the Burette.

Thanks for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research on this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more clear from this post. I am very glad to see such excellent info being shared freely out there.
